It started with us looking for answers.

There were many sources about Israel available in Russian, but most of them reproduced the same state narratives and didn’t always help answer the questions we were actually asking: Why do so many people come to Israel and then leave? What went wrong in past peace efforts? Why are some groups exempt from military service? Why is bureaucracy especially difficult for non-Jews?

So we switched to exploring Israel and Palestine through Hebrew- and English-language spaces, programs, books, podcasts, documentaries, and conversations. We wanted to share what we were discovering with our families and friends, but many of them didn’t have the language skills or the financial ability to access this information themselves. We realised this needed structure and continuity. That’s how it started.

Each of us, arriving in Israel from Russia between 2010 and 2022, went through this search separately. Step by step, we found each other and realised we were trying to solve the same problem. What began as individual journeys grew into a shared project.

We came together to build a space that unites people around humanistic values across different life experiences, political views, and religious beliefs. Now we aim not only to help overcome political loneliness and make information more accessible, but also to help Russian-speaking Israelis engage in civic and political life here, share accumulated experience of solidarity and resistance with local partners, and have our voices represented alongside other like-minded people.
